Moth Class Ship and other stuff

Posted by Chris Taylor on July 23, 2009

So no posts for a while, but that’s sometimes a good sign that there’s plenty going on behind the scenes.  First of all, the ‘Tug Ship’, as seen here, which is now known officially as the ‘Moth Class Ship’ has been completed as a 3D asset.  Modeled in 3DS Max and textured using Modo and Photoshop, the model will be put through its paces over the next few weeks in its first few shots in the movie, one of which I’ll post here as and when it’s done.

The other bit of news is less post production and more production in the form of a handful of missing pickup shots that have recently come to light in the edit as being required.  The cool thing about these is it allows me to have a week in New York where we’ll be filming them all.  It’s a real grab bag of shots including back plates of the city so we can add UFO’s flying around and a bunch of greenscreen work (okay, so the greenscreen stuff could easily be done in the UK where we’re based, but shooting it in the US means we won’t have to ADR the shots later with American accents).  And did I mention that New York is cool?
